The Professional 365nm Wood's Lamp helps reveal depigmented skin areas that may be difficult to identify under ordinary light. Commonly used in dermatology clinics, it assists in the observation of vitiligo, pigment variations, and certain fungal conditions by enhancing fluorescence contrast on the skin.

Equipped with a precision UV-A light source and optical filter, the device provides consistent illumination for clearer examination results. The portable handheld design, integrated magnifying lens, and simple operation make it ideal for both home monitoring and professional use.

Whether checking lesion boundaries, tracking skin changes over time, or performing routine skin assessments, the Wood's Lamp offers a convenient and reliable screening solution. This device is intended for observation purposes only and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical diagnosis.

FAQs

You have questions, we have answers.

Wood's lamp is a convenient screening tool mainly used for preliminary diagnosis of skin fungal infections, boundary differentiation of pigmentary diseases, and criminal investigation or industrial testing. If used for diagnosing diseases, it is recommended to combine microscopic examination or fungal culture to obtain accurate results.

Under the Wood lamp, the skin lesions of vitiligo have very typical characteristics, mainly divided into two situations:

1. Bright blue and white (or porcelain white):

This is the most typical manifestation of vitiligo. Due to the lack of melanin in the skin lesion area, collagen fluorescence in the dermis will appear under the UV irradiation of the Wood lamp, presenting a very bright bright blue white fluorescence, similar to the color of white paper or chalk.

2. Tri color/Five color expression (progress period):

If vitiligo is in the active stage, sometimes areas with incomplete pigment loss can be seen under the light, appearing gray white in contrast to the completely lost bright blue white areas, which helps to determine whether the condition is progressing.

What is a wood's lamp used for?

Wood's lamp is a detection fixture that emits long wave ultraviolet light (UVA, peak wavelength of approximately 365nm) through a filter containing nickel oxide. It mainly utilizes the principle of fluorescence reaction in dark environments and has a wide range of applications in dermatology, pet medicine, forensic identification, and other fields. It can be used to assist in the diagnosis of various skin diseases and is often used by pet doctors or owners for preliminary screening of pet skin problems.

A Wood's lamp is an inexpensive, easy-to-use, and safe tool in dermatology. It is used to diagnose and monitor a range of fungal and bacterial infections, pigmentary conditions, metabolic disorders, and cutaneous surgery and cosmetics.

The typical appearance of fungal infections under the Wood Lamp is mainly bright green (tinea capitis/tinea cat) or brownish yellow (tinea versicolor), but not all fungi emit light, and it is mainly used as a rapid screening tool.

A Wood lamp exam may help your doctor confirm a fungal or bacterial infection or diagnose vitiligo. Your doctor may also be able to learn what is causing any light- or dark-colored spots on your skin.

Lamp must be held over the skin lesions for at least 5 min because infected hairs may need to be exposed to the lamp for several minutes before they start to fluoresce. Positive hairs will glow an apple-green color.

This device is intended as a screening and observation tool and is not a substitute for professional medical diagnosis.
